Dave Navarro: "Trust No One"
Review

T
rust No One- this title is most apt when it comes to all rumours of release dates- For years it had been scheduled to appear, cancelled, even said to have been abandoned altogether.. Now that the myth has become reality, and I got my first taste of it, I can gladly say that the title holds in no way true to what can be expected from the skill of Mr. Navarro-
Trust this album to be one hundred percent up to the highest standards, up to what one has hoped it could become: - One hundred percent Dave Navarro without compromises!

Remeniscent at times of such artists as A Perfect Circle, or Chris Cornell - just to give a rough idea of its genre- The sound bears great originality and pleasant surprises. Alternating between hard rocking beats and melancholy tearing at the heartstrings, the sound is always "deep and dark" and at times even verging on the nightmarish ( e.g. Mourning Son, Everything): Trust No One is simultaneously full of painful dissonances and very melodious- Yet surprisingly this has been accomplished without being depressive.

We are swept away on a rollercoaster of highly emotive, passionate sound of whiplashing beats and riffs to be then caressed by gentle violin interludes and eerie choruses- just to be be whirled into a turmoil again- A specialty of Mr. Navarro which he already employed to good use for such Peppers classics like "Warped" , which leads us from pain and nightmare to gentle lullaby and back again, toying with the listeners emotions like few others can. The lyrics match this tighrope walk between a sparing -nothing, painful frankness conveyed with striking emotionality and sensitivity, going from depth to deeper still..
A classic in its own right already!
